Resumo

O conhecimento que o ser humano tem de seu ambiente vai depender de sua percepção, a qual está intimamente relacionada às suas tendências de uso dos recursos naturais. Esta pesquisa teve por objetivo justamente revelar a percepção ambiental de pessoas dos mais diversos segmentos da sociedade, tendo como população alvo os frequentadores de finais de semana do Parque Municipal das Araucárias. Foram aplicados questionários por meio de entrevistas de forma anônima e voluntária. Este questionário foi estruturado com perguntas abertas e fechadas, relacionadas ao perfil do visitante, à percepção do visitante quanto à concepção de Meio Ambiente e Educação Ambiental. Foram aplicados 52 questionários no período de outubro e novembro de 2005. Esta pesquisa revelou que 54% dos entrevistados percebem o meio ambiente apenas como natural sem a interferência do homem e 46% tiveram a concepção do ambiente como o local onde vivemos, se incluindo como parte do meio, uma interação entre o ambiente natural e o homem. Quanto à concepção dos entrevistados em relação ao conceito de Educação Ambiental a maioria, 52%, vêem esta sobre o aspecto preservacionista, ou seja, ações de Educação Ambiental voltadas a preservação da natureza e 38% conceituam a Educação Ambiental como conscientização ambiental, ensinar o individuo a cuidar do ambiente em que vive. Através das análises, torna-se relevante pesquisas que caracterizem diferentes concepções sobre o meio ambiente, de forma que conduza a elaboração de propostas educativas contínuas e estruturadas em políticas ambientais, auxiliando os cidadãos a desenvolver um conhecimento integrado do ambiente e que compreendendo as inter-relações possam desenvolver novas posturas ambientais tornando-se co-responsáveis.

Abstract

The knowledge that the human being has of its environment will depend on his perception, which is related to its trends of use of natural resources. This research aimed exactly to reveal the environmental perception of people from varied segments of society, having as target-population the weekend visitors to the Araucárias City Park. Questionnaires were fi lled in through anonymous and voluntary interviews. This questionnaire was structured with open and closed questions, related to the visitor’s profile, his/her perception concerning the concepts of environment and environmental education. An amount of 52 questionnaires were filled in between October and November of 2005. This research revealed that 54% of the interviewees perceived the environment only as nature without man’s interference and 46% perceived the environment as the place where they live, including themselves as part of it, an interaction between the natural environment and mankind. As for the perception of the interviewees concerning the concept of environmental education, the majority (52%) focused on the aspect of preservation, in other words, environmental education acts towards the nature preservation and 38% defi ned the environmental education as environmental consciousness, to teach the individuals to care about the environment where they live. Through these analyses, it becomes relevant the kind of research that characterizes different conceptions of the environment, in order to lead to the elaboration of continuous and structured educational proposals in relevant environmental politics. Such proposals that motivate the citizens to develop an integrated knowledge of the environment and to understand its inter-relations benefi ts the development of a new environmental position and makes them co-responsible towards environmental consciousness.
