Originada dos estudos de Selznick (1957), a Teoria Institucional configura-se como um modelo de análise das transformações organizacionais, no qual não apenas metas e objetivos influenciam rotinas e processos, mas também as dimensões não racionais do comportamento organizacional. Permeadas por determinações formais e informais, mecanismos de controle e sistemas de significação, as organizações acabam submetidas às particularidades do ambiente em que estão inseridas, condicionando seu próprio desenvolvimento. Esse ambiente, denominado campo organizacional, é constituído por relações e se estabelece a partir de entendimentos comuns e interpretações convergentes — a este conceito dá-se o nome de lógica institucional. À vista disso, buscou-se analisar a evolução histórica das lógicas institucionais pertinentes a um departamento de uma instituição pública paranaense de ensino superior. Considerando elementos racionais e intersubjetivos, adotou-se uma abordagem qualitativa, exploratória e descritiva, baseada em um estudo de caso único no Departamento de Administração da Universidade Estadual de Londrina (UEL). Os principais resultados indicam que mudanças nas lógicas institucionais do departamento comprometeram sua interação com o campo organizacional. O afastamento de stakeholders importantes, como a sociedade, tem mantido o departamento alheio às dinâmicas institucionais do campo, limitando seu desenvolvimento e alcance.References
